CSW Day 3

Today was the first day of events at CSW, and it was amazing! The first session I went to was about sex education that was conducted by French delegates. It was really interesting the way comprehensive sexual education was framed as a human rights issue. The third session I went to was called “Practices for protecting women’s human rights defenders.” During this panel, many women’s human rights defenders spoke about the experiences they had trying to defend women’s human rights in parts of the world where activists are routinely ostracized and persecuted for the work that they do. In the evening, we all attended a reception where we got to speak with other people from different NGO’s also in attendance this week. While there, I had a chance to speak with Emilia, a women’s human rights activist from Mexico, who worked with government agencies to make their programs more gender inclusive. I'm excited for what's to come, and I can't wait to attend more events tomorrow.

  1. Great networking at the reception. I'll bet you will be meeting many people who you continue to correspond with after returning from CSW. Thank goodness for email! Tomorrow is your big presentation day. Show that big confident smile of yours!
